The Southland UU Leadership Experience is for lay leaders, ministers, DREs, youth 16 and over, young adults, and congregational staff. To maximize the experience, we encourage participation by congregational teams that include a mix of people in different roles.
Each participant is expected to meet these requirements:
Is a member in good standing of a Unitarian Universalist congregation for at least two years (or if youth, at least 16 years old and involved with their congregations for at least two years).
Has a deep understanding of Unitarian Universalism.
Is slotted to hold a leadership role. Is now or soon will be:
an officer of the Governing Board
on the Governing Board
the Chair of a Committee
on the Committee on Ministry
on staff, Administrator, Music Director, DRE, etc
a Minister for a congregation
a congregational youth leader
Has been nominated by their congregation.
Is committed to sharing information and the learning experience with other leaders in the congregation.
Prior to arrival, has taken the Belief-O-Matic test on Belief-Net.
Has a deep understanding of self.
Has a deep understanding of the personal reasons for taking on leadership.
Agrees to attend the full program and participate in all required activities.
Agrees to complete a Personal Leadership Inventory, prior to arriving at The Mountain (Fill it out in relationship with those you have worked with. Ask them their opinion about strong points, gifts, and growing edges. You can complete this online and then print it or print it and complete it by hand).
In the year following the training, agrees to participate in periodic teleconferences for peer and coaching support of participant leadership plans.
